Manning still a Hokie, won't go to BC
By Heather Dinich
Virginia Tech freshman cornerback Donaldven Manning is still a member of the team, but will not travel with the squad this weekend to Boston College, the school announced on Wednesday.
“I expect Donaldven to learn from this and to have success at Virginia Tech,” coach Frank Beamer said in a prepared statement.
According to The Washington Post, Manning was charged with two misdemeanors, in addition to three other minor traffic charges, since arriving on campus, according to Virginia’s online court records.
Manning, a backup to Kyle Fuller, has played sparingly in seven games this year and has four tackles and one interception. With Manning not at practice this week, sophomore walk-on Carl Jackson got second-team reps, according to the Roanoke Times. Freshman Donovan Riley could see an increased role this weekend at BC.
