ACC helmet stickers: Week 13
By Andrea Adelson
How about a few helmet stickers for a job well done?
Duke Johnson, RB, Miami. Johnson ran for a career-high 176 yards and three touchdowns in a wild 52-45 victory over Duke. Johnson finished the season with 947 yards rushing, a program freshman rushing record. In all, Johnson had 2,060 all-purpose yards on the year, the second-most in school history behind Willis McGahee, who had 2,108 in 2002.
Cody Journell, PK, Virginia Tech. Journell nailed a 29-yard field goal as time expired to give Virginia Tech a 17-14 win over Virginia and ensure the Hokies a 20th consecutive bowl appearance. The made field goal allowed Journell to make up for a missed 42-yard attempt just a few minutes earlier that would have given the Hokies the lead.
Bryn Renner, QB, North Carolina. Renner finished 28-for-39 for 305 yards and five touchdowns in a 45-38 win over Maryland, tying a single-game school record for touchdown passes. He threw five touchdown passes earlier this year against Louisville. Renner also established a single-season school record with 28 touchdown passes, topping his previous mark of 26 in 2011. Chris Keldorf (23 in 1996) is the only other Tar Heels quarterback to throw for at least 20 touchdowns in a season.
Jamison Crowder, WR, Duke. Though the Blue Devils lost, special mention must be given to Crowder -- who had a career-high 203 yards receiving and two touchdowns to top all players in Week 13. He had a 99-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter, setting the school record for the longest play from scrimmage. Crowder also set the school record for most TD catches of 50-plus yards with five, breaking the previous mark of four set by Eron Riley in 2007. He had 272 all-purpose yards on the day.
