There are two key divisional games, as UNC will host Virginia Tech at 3:30 p.m. and Wake Forest will travel to Tallahassee for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Florida State. Duke and Virginia are off. Here's a quick look ahead at the whole schedule for Week 4:
Mississippi State (1-2) at Georgia Tech (2-1), noon -- Yes, this is the same Mississippi State that lost 3-2 to Auburn last week, and that safety came on a holding call against the Tigers. The Bulldogs' defense is holding opponents to 11.67 points per game, but Josh Nesbitt is a better quarterback than some might think.
No. 15 East Carolina (3-0) at NC State (1-2, 0-1 ACC) noon, ESPN -- The difference here is that the Pirates are led by their quarterback, Patrick Pinkney, while the Wolfpack is led by linebacker Nate Irving, who has had three interceptions for 43 yards.
UCF (1-1) at Boston College (1-1) 1 p.m. ESPNU -- The keys here will be how the Eagles fare without Alex Albright, and how much playing time, if any, backup quarterback Dominique Davis gets. This George O'Leary-coached UCF team gave South Florida fits.
South Carolina State (2-1) at Clemson (2-1, 1-0 ACC) 1 p.m. ESPN360 -- This should be a tune-up game for the Tigers, and one of the things Tommy Bowden is looking for is more three-and-outs for the defense.
Eastern Michigan (1-2) at Maryland (2-1) 1 p.m. ESPN360 -- EMU is coming off a 41-17 loss to fellow MAC opponent Toledo, and the Terps are coming off a 35-27 upset of Cal. You do the math.
Virginia Tech (2-1) at North Carolina (2-0) 3:30 p.m. ABC -- Frank Beamer said the Tar Heels will be their biggest test to date, and much of that is due to Brandon Tate, who currently leads the nation in all-purpose yards with 308 in just two games. But Virginia Tech linebacker Brett Warren had a game-high 15 tackles last week, and defensive tackle John Graves is making a habit out of blocking kicks.
Miami (1-1) at Texas A&M (1-1) 3:30 p.m. ABC -- The Hurricanes have been working on creating turnovers, but they also need a solid performance from tailback Graig Cooper and a few of their receivers to emerge as dependable playmakers.
Wake Forest (2-0) at Florida State (2-0) 7 p.m. ESPN2 -- The Demon Deacons have back-to-back wins against FSU, and Riley Skinner hasn't thrown an interception yet this season, but the Seminoles are brimming with young talent.
