ACC players in the Super Bowl

By Andrea Adelson

The ACC has the perfect marketing tool to use over the next two weeks: the Super Bowl.

Why?

Some of the best players on both the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens played at schools currently in the ACC.

Want a solid running back? How about Frank Gore.

Awesome receivers? How about Anquan Boldin and Torrey Smith.

Great tight end? How about Vernon Davis.

Future Hall of Famers? How about Ray Lewis and Ed Reed.

Lewis and Reed did not technically play in the ACC, but they did play at Miami. And Miami does have the most representatives of any team in the country in the Super Bowl, with seven.

As for the league, a total of 19 players from current ACC schools are on the combined rosters, including active, injured reserve and practice squad. That ties the ACC for second with the Big Ten. The SEC leads the way with 23 representatives. Conference affiliation for the 2012 football season was used to compile this list, distributed by the ACC office.
