NCAA finds issue with Miami investigation
By Heather Dinich
The NCAA is revealing that it has found "an issue of improper conduct" within its own enforcement program during its investigation into the compliance practices of Miami's athletic department.
"To say the least, I am angered and saddened by this situation," NCAA president Mark Emmert said in a prepared statement. "Trust and credibility are essential to our regulatory tasks. My intent is to ensure our investigatory functions operate with integrity and are fair and consistent with our member schools, athletics staff and most importantly our student-athletes."
This is a terrible black eye for the NCAA and a true public relations nightmare. I just got off a teleconference with Emmert, and will have some more comments and information from him, as well as some thoughts on how this will impact Miami. Check back in a bit.
