ACC QBs didn't help stock in Senior Bowl
By Heather Dinich
Former NC State quarterback Mike Glennon and former Florida State quarterback EJ Manuel were both highlighted in the recent Senior Bowl, but neither of them did much to increase their NFL draft stock , according to Kevin Weidl of Scouts Inc.
They were hardly slouches, as Manuel won MVP honors after completing 7 of 10 passes for 76 yards and a touchdown. Apparently it wasn't enough. Here's an excerpt from Weidl:
On Glennon: Glennon's accuracy was not as good as expected, and while his arm and tall frame have invited comparisons to Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco there is a clear difference between the two. Flacco is clearly a better athlete, and Glennon's lack of mobility and below-average foot speed showed up in a big way on a bootleg early in the second half.
On Manuel: Manuel was inaccurate and forced his receivers to adjust on several underneath throws, and with no blitzing and vanilla coverages in the game there was no chance for Manuel to show he can read coverage effectively and anticipate passing windows downfield.
FSU linebacker Vince Williams was also mentioned in the piece, along with former UNC defensive tackle Sylvester Williams.
