Ultimate ACC road trip: Week 12
By Heather Dinich and Andrea Adelson
Can you believe it's mid-November already?
Week 12 schedule
Thursday, November 14
Saturday, November 16
- Georgia Tech at Clemson, ESPN
Our pick: Georgia Tech at Clemson
- NC State at Boston College
- Miami at Duke
- Syracuse at Florida State
- Maryland at Virginia Tech
- North Carolina at Pittsburgh
Why you should come along: The Tigers rarely get the Thursday night spotlight. It will be Clemson’s first home Thursday night game since Oct. 25, 2002, when the Tigers played NC State, and just the third in school history. The fact that it's against Georgia Tech makes it even more intriguing, as the two programs have had some interesting history in recent years. In 2011, Georgia Tech humbled Clemson, which was ranked No. 5 in the country at the time and off to its best start since 2000. With wins over Georgia and FSU (big if) the Tigers could be ranked that high again when these teams meet, and it will be the final ACC game of the regular season for both teams.
This was a tough call, especially since we've already been to Clemson a few times, but this series isn't about touring the ACC, it's about getting to the best game every week, no matter who it is or where it is. The Pitt-UNC game was the No. 2 choice on this list, especially since it is a Coastal Division game, but you just can't miss this rare occasion in Death Valley.
It will be the second consecutive year Georgia Tech comes to Clemson, the first time a team has played two years in a row at Clemson since the 1993-94 seasons. Georgia Tech played at Clemson on a Thursday night in 1998 and came away with a close victory. Last year, Georgia Tech lost, 47-31.
