FSU remains atop post-spring top 25
By Andrea Adelson
No surprise here: Florida State remains on top of the post-spring Top 25.
ESPN.com college football writer Mark Schlabach says this of the Seminoles:
The Seminoles were probably a year ahead of schedule in winning a BCS National Championship last season, and they will be heavy favorites to repeat as ACC champions and make the four-team College Football Playoff this coming season. Along with bringing back Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston at quarterback, the Seminoles expect to have five seniors starting on the offensive line, which is always a recipe for success, as well as tight end Nick O'Leary and receiver Rashad Greene.
Two more ACC teams are in the post-spring Top 25: No. 16 North Carolina and No. 22 Clemson
The Tar Heels were featured in the same spot in Schlabach's post-signing day Top 25. Despite not naming a starting quarterback, Schlabach writes, "Tar Heels coach Larry Fedora seems to have all the pieces in place to run his hurry-up, spread offense." That quarterback competition between Marquise Williams and Mitch Trubisky continues into the spring.
As for Clemson, Schlabach has now dropped the Tigers two more spots, perhaps because of the quarterback drama and receiver uncertainty that remains from the spring.
