Here are three keys for Miami in the Hyundai Sun Bowl against Notre Dame:

1. Fluster the rookie. Miami’s defense will have to get pressure on true freshman quarterback Tommy Rees, who has thrown 10 touchdown passes in the past four games. Miami is sixth in the country in sacks with three per game.

2. Limit the turnovers. Expectations were high for quarterback Jacory Harris, a junior this year, but he continued to be turnover prone. The Canes enter the game ranked No. 80 in the country in turnover margin.

3. Run the ball. Miami has been at its best this year when the running game has taken pressure off the quarterback. There’s plenty of depth at the position and enough talent up front to pave the way for them, and Notre Dame’s run defense has been average this year, allowing 146.75 yards per game.
