FORT LAUDARDALE, Fla. -- I don't know what the problem is between the New England Patriots and linebacker Adalius Thomas.
And I'm not so sure Thomas does either, from the sounds of his interview Thursday with "Felger and Massarotti" of Boston radio station 98.5 the Sports Hub.
Thomas, who toured Radio Row at the Super Bowl media center to promote A.D.Licious marinade, spoke for the first time since the end of the season and discussed his falling out with Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. Thomas called his experience with the Patriots "a roller coaster."
Thomas was on the outs almost all season. He was the Patriots' big offseason acquisition before 2007, but there's a belief he won't be back for 2010.
ESPNBoston.com's Mike Reiss put together a blog post about the interview, putting his comments in the context of Thomas' contract and the disagreements that included being deactivated for two games and sent home from the team facility for showing up late to a meeting.
"After the Buffalo game, the first game of the year, something happened, and I was like 'I really don't understand this,' " Thomas said. "I really don't want to go into it because I still don't understand it. I had a meeting, and I just really didn't understand some of the stuff I was being told. So I knew at that point it was bigger than what was on the surface. It was something bigger than that."
Thomas didn't give specifics about his meeting with Belichick because he was mystified by it. Thomas seemed at a loss to provide details more than he was unwilling to.
"It's the first game back, and the way some stuff went down, I just really didn't understand it," Thomas said. "It was a confusing meeting to me. I understood some of it, but a lot of it was just confusing and it even got more confusing as the year went on."
