Wind blows Welker off course

Winds you would expect to see a Weather Channel reporter leaning into probably kept New England Patriots receiver Wes Welker from leading the NFL in catches and breaking the club record he set last year.

Gusts of up to 75 mph in Ralph Wilson Stadium forced the Patriots and Buffalo Bills to run and run and run some more Sunday. The Patriots won 13-0 despite throwing eight passes.

Welker went into the game with 109 receptions and was averaging 7.3 per game.

But he caught only two passes and finished four catches behind Houston Texans wideout Andre Johnson for the league lead.

Welker last year tied Cincinnati Bengals wideout T.J. Houshmandzadeh for the NFL lead with 112 receptions.
