ESPN analyst Tedy Bruschi hasn't been overly impressed with three of the four AFC East clubs so far through free agency.

Bruschi perceives improvement in the New York Jets alone.

"They already have one of the best defenses in the league, and they added Antonio Cromartie, possibly giving them one of the best defenses again," Bruschi said in a video segment for ESPNBoston.com. "This will give them a great unit that will possibly contend for the AFC East title.

"The Patriots have won this title regularly. Now, they have some serious competition."

Bruschi likes that his old team has re-signed a bunch of its own free agents, but he warned a week ago that philosophy wouldn't be enough.

"The New England Patriots have done a good job of signing back their own -- from Vince Wilfork, to Steve Neal, to Leigh Bodden," Bruschi said. "These were moves that they had to make, but they didn't really get better."

Bruschi biggest problem with the Buffalo Bills is that their offensive line still is in shambles, and he's unconvinced the Miami Dolphins' defense is better without a replacement for outside linebacker Joey Porter.
