Reese pokes head out to talk Patriots draft

Old friend Floyd Reese, the former ESPN analyst who went into deep cover the moment he joined the New England Patriots' football operations department, resurfaced over the weekend.

Reese spoke Saturday at a pre-draft party for Patriots season-ticket holders. The event was sponsored by ESPN and ESPNBoston.com. I was not invited.

But Mike Reiss was there and shared some of Reese's thoughts on the Patriots' draft philosophies and preparations.

Reese sheds some insight on scouting players who rehearse their drills so thoroughly before they're tested.

The most insightful comment to me pertained to New England's league-high four draft picks in the first two rounds.

"There are a lot of good players," Reese said. "With our first four picks, we will get really good football players."
