"Our intention is for Marshawn to be here," Nix told reporters at a pre-draft news conference Wednesday afternoon. "He's under contract. We think he's a good back. We need two backs. Our intentions are for him to be here. All this trade talk, it's not coming from us."
Yahoo! Sports writer Charles Robinson, citing unnamed sources, reported Tuesday night the Bills are open to trading Lynch for a second-round draft choice. Robinson also reported the Seattle Seahawks have held internal discussions about pursuing a trade for Lynch.
Buffalo News reporter Mark Gaughan used two more quotes from Nix to describe the team's stance on Lynch, who has declined to show up for Buffalo's voluntary offseason conditioning program.
"He's under contract," Nix said. "We expect him to be here. We want him to be here. Obviously it's his decision. This is voluntary. That was the extent of it."
In response to a question about Lynch requesting a trade, Nix replied "Look guys, he don't make that decision. He's under contract to us. We're going to do what's best for the Bills. We need Marshawn, and we expect him to show up when it's mandatory."
