Power poll tempers AFC East excitement

Rick Gosselin has assembled the Dallas Morning News' offseason power rankings.

The only AFC East fans who should be satisfied are those who follow the Buffalo Bills.

Last week, the Sporting News predicted the New York Jets would go 13-3, be the first seed in the playoffs and win the Super Bowl.

The Dallas Morning News ranked the Jets a relatively modest 10th in the league and fifth in the AFC, one slot behind the Houston Texans.

The Jets were, however, the AFC East's highest-rated club. The New England Patriots were 11th, making them the final AFC team to make the playoff cut. The Miami Dolphins were rated 15th and out of the postseason.

Only six spots behind the Dolphins were the Buffalo Bills, a respectable 21st. Many prognosticators have rated the Bills among the worst two or three teams in the league, but the Dallas Morning News rankings list five AFC clubs behind them.
