EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan and star cornerback Darrelle Revis have smoothed over any problems stemming from Revis' mini-demonstration Monday over contract issues.

Ryan, speaking with ESPNNewYork.com's Rich Cimini on Wednesday morning, said he had "a great talk" with Revis Tuesday night.

"It's funny because, when it's a football thing, we definitely see eye to eye," Ryan told Cimini. "He knows what I expect of him and vice versa. We definitely see eye to eye."

Revis removed himself from 11-on-11 drills and then held court with reporters in front of his locker stall. Revis said he was making a statement that he could walk away at any time and took shots at the Jets' front office. He reiterated he wants to be paid 50 cents more than Oakland Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha and called the Jets' contract proposals "an insult."

"That's not who he is," Ryan said. "He's a leader. Nobody works harder than Revis, with the exception of Mark Sanchez. That's who he is. That's what we talked about.

"The great thing is, he never has to apologize to me. Just go out, be yourself and that will be good enough for me."

Revis also implicated secondary coach Dennis Thurman, saying they were laughing about the All-Pro cornerback's decision to come off the field.

Revis told the Jets he was lightheaded, but in the locker room joked he might've had a hamstring problem. Revis eventually came clean, saying he was asserting himself to make a point about his contract.

In an interview with Cimini on Tuesday night, Thurman denied any knowledge Revis was pulling a stunt.

"I actually said, 'Is this legitimate?' " Thurman told Cimini. "He goes, 'Yeah.' Any statement he might have been trying to make, he wasn't making it as far as I was concerned. If he had another agenda, you'll have to ask him. To me, there was nothing behind it."
