Nobody from the AFC East made Forbes' list of the world's 50 top-earning athletes for the previous 12 months.
Two did make Sports Illustrated's seventh annual "Fortunate 50." Unlike Forbes, which included international stars, Sports Illustrated focused solely on Americans.
That allowed New England Patriots nose tackle Vince Wilfork and New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez to make the cut.
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, entering the final year of his contract, likely will join the club next year if he signs an extension that modifies this year's salary. New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis also would be a good candidate to make the list with a new deal.
Wilfork ranked 38th with an estimated $18.9 million in football income and $75,000 in endorsements. Even the best nose tackles don't get any advertising love.
Sanchez was 48th. SI had him down for $16.46 million in football earnings and $500,000 in endorsements.
To compile the list, SI explained it used "salaries, winnings and bonus figures from players' associations, tour records, agents and news reports" from the most recently completed season and "endorsement estimates from Burns Entertainment & Sports Marketing, other sports-marketing executives and analysts and agents."
