Although much of the talk will be about the running and receiving capabilities Pat White can provide the Miami Dolphins in their Wildcat formation, general manager Jeff Ireland declared White will remain a quarterback and is good enough to be an NFL starter someday.

"He's going to line up at quarterback," Ireland said.

White, a running and throwing star at West Virginia, was the fourth quarterback off the board. His addition means 2007 second-round draft pick John Beck's days are numbered. The Dolphins have preferred to keep only three quarterbacks. Chad Pennington is the starter. Chad Henne is considered their quarterback of the future.

Regardless of where White is listed on the depth chart, it's safe to say he and running back Ronnie Brown will be the Wildcat stars.

White's presence will allow the Dolphins to take Pennington off the field when they go to the direct-snap, unbalanced-line formation and give them 11 useful players.

"Pat's going to be an element of surprise," Ireland said. "You can put him out at receiver. You can put him out at quarterback. You can put him at receiver and put Ronnie in the Wildcat still.

"There's a lot of things you can do when you have great athletes, and that's the way we view Pat. He's a great athlete that can enhance our offense."

Ireland also buried pre-draft rumors the Dolphins were looking to trade Brown.

"We can put them to bed," Ireland said. "It's funny. Before the draft, you have a lot of people calling you, and somehow those things take on a life of their own.

"I'll give you an example: Someone calls me and says 'Any players available by trade?' And I say 'Yeah, they are all available for a price.' Someone might have said 'Does that include Ronnie?' And I said 'Like I said, they are all available.'

"I don't know if someone took that and ran with it, but we are not looking to trade Ronnie Brown. You can write that."
