INDIANAPOLIS -- New England Patriots Pro Bowl tight end Rob Gronkowski is expected to play Sunday against the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLV, team sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Gronkowski sprained his ankle in the AFC Championship Game against the Baltimore Ravens. Most expect Gronkowski to suit up, but the question is how effective can he be?

Gronkowski is a big part of New England's offense and one of quarterback Tom Brady's favorite targets. He had 90 receptions, 1,327 yards and 17 touchdowns for the Patriots this season.
