Here are the most interesting stories Monday morning in the AFC East:
Teams can use the franchise tag as early as Monday. Will New England Patriots receiver Wes Welker get tagged?
Morning take: There is a very good chance it will happen. The Patriots are too smart to let Welker walk. But the tag also will buy time for both sides to continue to negotiate this offseason.
New Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator Mike Sherman thinks Ryan Tannehill is a winner.
Morning take: Sherman coached Tannehill at Texas A&M. Does that put Tannehill in play for the Dolphins at No. 8 or No. 9 overall? Doubtful.
The Buffalo Bills and No. 1 receiver Steve Johnson reportedly remain far apart in talks.
Morning take: Buffalo and Johnson haven't been on the same page in contract talks for a while. Both sides have to make up ground quickly or Johnson will hit the open market next month.
Can the New York Jets still compete in the AFC East if Peyton Manning joined the Dolphins?
Morning take: A healthy Tom Brady and Manning could make the Jets a non-factor in the division. That would definitely put a lot of pressure on Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez and Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to step up their games.
