As training camps begin this week, the AFC East blog will look at highly drafted players who need to step up in 2012 to shake the "bust" label.
We start Sunday with a backup right tackle for the New York Jets.
Bust Watch: OT Vladimir Ducasse
Pick: Second round, 2010
Analysis: The Jets knew they were taking a project when they selected Ducasse out of UMass in the second round. But after two seasons, the Jets still have not seen enough progress to make him a starter. Ducasse's slow development is partially to blame for New York’s woes at right tackle. Entering his third season, Ducasse should be ready for a starting role. Instead, the Jets are stuck with starting Wayne Hunter, another struggling right tackle. Jets head coach Rex Ryan praised Ducasse for his improvement this offseason. But until Ryan is ready to start Ducasse, it will come off as coach speak. Duccasse can’t shake the “bust" label until he’s able to get on the field.
