It appears the New England Patriots have confidence in second-year tailbacks Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen. The team proved it Wednesday by cutting veteran running back Joseph Addai.
The Patriots signed Addai this offseason to add veteran stability to a young group. Ridley and Vereen will be joined back backup Danny Woodhead in New England's backfield this season. Ridley and Vereen will compete for the starting job.
Releasing Addai was one of three roster moves the Patriots made before training camp. They also signed defensive lineman Tim Bulman and tight end Visanthe Shiancoe.
