Dolphins and Jets trim rosters

The New York Jets only had to trim their roster down to 75 players Monday. But a severe knee injury to tight end Josh Baker in Sunday's preseason game against the Carolina Panthers made their decisions a little easier for later in the week.

New York cut its roster to 74 players Monday by releasing kicker Josh Brown, waiving linebacker Damario Ambrose, running back Jeremy Stewart, wide receivers Wes Kemp and Stanley Arukwe and waive/injured Baker.

Releasing Brown means Nick Folk has won New York's kicking job. If the preseason is any indication, it could be a busy year for Folk. The Jets have yet to score a preseason touchdown.

In other AFC East roster moves, the Miami Dolphins released receiver Julius Pruitt and placed safety Kelcie McCray on the reserved/injured list to get their roster down to 75 players.

The Jets and Dolphins need to trim their rosters to 53 players by Friday.
