FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Tim Tebow has heard the report that he would ask for a trade if things don’t go his way with the Jets, but that doesn’t mean he generated it.
“I find that pretty funny,” Tebow said. “It’s about as true as me living in Hoboken (N.J.), I think. (laughter) I guess it’s just part of what you have to deal with, is rumors and stuff like that, I don’t know. All I can say is, I love being here as a Jet, I’m thankful for it and I want to be here for a long time. I guess you just have to put up with stuff like that.”
Tebow was quick to point out that he doesn’t dislike Hoboken, he just doesn’t happen to live there.
Jets, know thyself: Jets coach Rex Ryan was asked if he will know more about the team after the Pittsburgh game, given that Buffalo wasn’t a difficult test.
“We know plenty about ourselves already,” Ryan said. “We know we’re a good football team. Obviously, you’re going into an environment like Pittsburgh. It’s about as tough as it gets playing (them). (They are) 9-0 (in) their last nine home openers (and) all that kind of stuff. But again, finding out about ourselves, I think we know enough about ourselves. But we’ll see I guess. After the game, maybe I’ll be ready to answer that question more, but right now, I think we know plenty about ourselves.”
This and that: S Eric Smith could be back in the lineup after a hip injury ... LB Bryan Thomas described his hamstring as feeling “squeezy.” ... S LaRon Landry may show up on the practice report this year for his heel, but he said it would never keep him out of a game. He is ready to go: “16-plus.”
