What's wrong with Buffalo's defense?

The Buffalo Bills are favored to beat the Tennessee Titans at home. But Buffalo is struggling in the first half due to awful play on defense. The Titans lead the Bills at intermission 21-20.

Just when you thought Buffalo’s defense might have turned the corner with a solid performance against the Arizona Cardinals, the group lays an egg in the first half on Sunday. The Titans scored three touchdowns on their first three possessions and are running and throwing with ease.

It’s been a wild game so far. There was one stretch with three touchdowns in four plays. Fred Jackson caught a touchdown pass for Buffalo. Then, Titans tailback Chris Johnson ran 83 yards for a touchdown on the first play from scrimmage. Finally, Bills receiver Brad Smith ran back an 89-yard kickoff return.

The Bills’ defense has been embarrassing in some games this year. The Bills are still in position to win. But if Buffalo’s defense continues to play this poorly, serious changes need to be considered on that side of the ball after the bye week.
