On Monday we presented the case that this is shaping up to be another mediocre season in the AFC East. It turns out ESPN.com's Power Rankings continue to reflect that with its latest rankings.
All three division teams that played in Week 7 dropped. That included the New England Patriots, who needed overtime at home to beat the New York Jets. The Patriots collected the victory, but dropped one spot to No. 8. Overall, New England was the only team in the top 15.
Here is a look at how the AFC East fared in Week 8:
No. 8: Patriots (4-3)
No. 16: Miami Dolphins (3-3)
No. 24: New York Jets (3-4)
No. 27: Buffalo Bills (3-4)
The Dolphins, coming off a bye, play the Jets this week in a big AFC East game. It will determine which team has an inside track to challenge the Patriots in the division.
But the AFC East looks mediocre thus far. The four teams have a combined record of 13-14.
