Here is an interesting one: New England Patriots defensive back Devin McCourty was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week by the NFL on Wednesday. This is a first for McCourty.

But McCourty had a topsy-turvy game against the New York Jets en route to winning this award. First, McCourty returned a kickoff 104 yards for a touchdown to spark New England. Then, McCourty nearly lost the game with a fumbled return late in the fourth quarter. The Patriots eventually won in overtime.

The good certainly outweighs the bad with McCourty. His touchdown return was the second longest in team history. It also turned out that the Patriots needed every point.
