Don't waste your time asking Rex Ryan about other teams' injuries.
On a conference call Wednesday with South Florida media, a reporter asked Ryan about the Miami Dolphins being forced to start two rookie cornerbacks with Will Allen done for the year because of a knee injury.
The response was classic Ryan.
"I don't care about that," the audacious New York Jets coach said. "We lost a Pro Bowl nose tackle and a Pro Bowl running back.
"So boo hoo hoo."
Ryan was referring to 3-4 keystone Kris Jenkins and multipurpose scoring threat Leon Washington.
Nobody has been shedding any tears for the Jets, certainly not the Dolphins.
"We're sitting here at a 2-4 situation, where we need to win a ballgame, whoever it may be," Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown said. "It’s a division opponent, and it’s going to be one of those games that’s easy to get up for. So I think it’s a perfect situation."
The clubs will meet Sunday at the Meadowlands, just three weeks after the Dolphins won a fourth-quarter slugfest on "Monday Night Football" in Land Shark Stadium. The Dolphins also had a bye in the interim, so they will have played only one game before the rematch.
"We could play it early if they wanted to," Ryan said. "That's how both teams feel. It's not like you're going to learn different things about each other.
"It's going to be one of those kind of games, too. A fun one to watch, ground and pound on both sides. If someone thinks entertainment is watching teams throw it all over the place, they definitely don't want to come to this game."
