The New England Patriots (12-4) will get some much-needed rest during wild-card weekend while other teams in the AFC battle it out to advance to the next round. But the Patriots must also do some early scouting on potential opponents.
So which team will face second-seeded New England in two weeks at Gillette Stadium?
Will it be the third-seeded Houston Texans (12-4)? The Texans will host the Cincinnati Bengals (10-6) at Reliant Stadium in the playoffs for the second year in a row. A win by Houston would secure a Texans-Patriots matchup in the divisional round. New England beat Houston, 42-14, at home in Week 14.
Or will it be the Baltimore Ravens (10-6) or Indianapolis Colts (11-5)? A Houston loss would open the door for one of these teams to play New England in Round 2. The Patriots lost to the Ravens in the regular season but beat the Colts. Both teams provide tough matchups.
