Crowder's injury an issue for Jets rematch

Rex Ryan might have to step over Channing Crowder going to the game.

Crowder, the Miami Dolphins' motor-mouth inside linebacker, missed his second straight practice Thursday because of a shoulder injury.

Palm Beach Post reporter Carlos Frias observed Crowder doing resistance drills with a trainer on the sideline while his teammates prepared for Sunday's game against the New York Jets at the Meadowlands. Thompson projects Reggie Torbor as the replacement. Torbor started one game last year for Crowder. Torbor started the final five regular-season games and all four postseason games for the New York Giants when they won the Super Bowl.

Crowder is one of the top reasons Sunday's rematch is so intriguing. He and Ryan got into an entertaining trash-talk session through the media back in June.

One of Ryan's best cracks: "I've walked over tougher guys going to a fight than Channing Crowder."

Ryan delivered that line in jest, but if Crowder can't go Sunday, it will have proven figuratively prophetic.
