Miami Dolphins outside linebacker Joey Porter took exception when New York Jets coach mockingly cried "boo hoo hoo" over the season-ending injury of Dolphins cornerback Will Allen.
I wonder what Porter and the rest of the Dolphins think about Ryan taking a shot at Allen's ability.
"No disrespect to Will Allen, but I don't think he's going to make a Pro Bowl anytime soon," Ryan said Friday. "He’s a decent player, but whatever."
The renewed back and forth between Ryan and the Dolphins reignited again Wednesday on Ryan's conference call with South Florida reporters. Ryan was asked about the loss of Allen, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.
"I don't care about that," Ryan replied. "We lost a Pro Bowl nose tackle and a Pro Bowl running back.
"So boo hoo hoo."
Porter addressed Ryan's comment in an interview Thursday with the NFL Network.
"It didn't mean nothing in preseason, when he was talking before," Porter said, as quoted by the New York Daily News. "When he was taking shots and making fun of a player being out for the season, as a player you take that personal. That's like talking about my family member, what he did.
"So he made a little comment about Will Allen being hurt, saying 'Boo hoo hoo,' as if it's a joke or something. We'll see if it's a joke on Sunday because there's nothing the coach can do about it. He'll see his players out there with us on Sunday. That's something they'll have to deal with."
Ryan was asked if he had a response for Porter.
"I don't care about that," Ryan said. "If he's got issues with me about one of their guys being out, I don't feel sorry for them losing Will Allen. Obviously, I don't like it for any player to be hurt, but if they're looking for sympathy because Will Allen is out of the game, well, we've got Kris Jenkins out, and we've got Leon Washington out for the season, two guys that are Pro Bowl players.
