Here are the most interesting stories Thursday in the AFC East:
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was fined $10,000 for his controversial slide toward Ed Reed of the Baltimore Ravens.
Morning take: This was the right call by the league. Brady has slid plenty of times in his career and should know not to lift his leg. That could have caused an injury, and Brady later apologized for it.
Are the Miami Dolphins low-balling free-agent left tackle Jake Long?
Morning take: That would not be surprising. Miami knows better than any team that Long’s play has been on the decline for two years. I doubt the Dolphins will make him the highest-paid left tackle in the NFL.
The Buffalo Bills are looking at linebackers, receivers and quarterbacks at the Senior Bowl.
Morning take: These are all areas of need for Buffalo. But the Bills can’t do much next season without a quarterback. Ryan Fitzpatrick is not the answer, so Buffalo must find its long-term solution.
Should the New York Jets draft Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o?
Morning take: The Jets need to score points next season. New York has enough of a circus going on already that the Jets don’t need to take on the extra attention with Te'o.
