Darrelle Revis has never been one to need extra motivation. The New York Jets star is a self-made first-round pick out of the University of Pittsburgh who quickly worked his way to become the best cornerback in football.
Revis is the only NFL corner who can shut down half the field every single week. Many, including myself, believe Revis is the best cover corner since Deion Sanders.
Sherman is coming off a stellar second season and may be getting to that point. But Sherman's recent talk of being an elite corner and leaving Revis off that list apparently got under Revis’ skin.
"I never seen a man before run his mouth so much like a girl," Revis tweeted about Sherman Wednesday. "This dude just steady putting my name in his mouth to get notoriety."
Sherman also went on ESPN’s NFL32 and further ripped Revis.
“But he’s been out of the game for a year,” Sherman said. “What have you done for me lately? That’s the game. That’s how it is and that’s how it’s going to be.”
Sherman is known to rile up opponents, and Revis suddenly was his next target. Now, expect Revis to use Shermans jabs as further motivation to come back stronger from knee surgery.
With Revis' personality and work ethic, he will not accept anything less than returning to the field as the NFL's best cornerback -- and a peg or two above Sherman, who wants the top spot.
