Rodney Harrison's hits and taunts still resonate -- even in retirement.
How else can you explain how he received votes for dirtiest player in the NFL in a September poll conducted by Sports Illustrated?
SI presents the results of a player poll in the Scorecard section of each issue. The one that hits newsstands Thursday will show that in a survey of 296 players, Harrison received three votes, not enough to rate.
Miami Dolphins outside linebacker Joey Porter and Washington Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth tied for second at 6.0 percent.
Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Hines Ward came in first at 11.6 percent.
SI didn't break down the results any further, but noted the Buffalo Bills, with a league-leading 59 penalties, didn't have any players among the top 20.
Harrison hasn't played a game since October 2008, when the New England Patriots safety was carted off the Gillette Stadium field. He officially retired in June. He is a studio analyst for NBC Sports.
