The Buffalo Bills are deep into draft preparations, and it appears much of their focus is on the quarterback position.
Just one day after Buffalo held a private workout for No. 1 quarterback prospect Geno Smith, the Bills are doing the same former Florida State quarterback EJ Manuel. Buffalo's team site reports the Bills will host Manuel and run him through drills on Saturday.
This is a clear indication that Buffalo is working overtime to find its long-term solution at quarterback in this draft. The Bills recently cut former starter Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Tarvaris Jackson is only a stop-gap option, at best. The Bills need someone who can potentially lead the team for the present and future.
Manuel is a second-round option for Buffalo. The Bills hold the No. 8 overall pick, and Smith and perhaps USC's Matt Barkley are the only quarterbacks in consideration for the team in the first round. If the Bills do not land a quarterback at No. 8, second-tier prospects such as Manuel, Ryan Nassib and Mike Glennon are all in play for Buffalo in the second round.
