The Darrelle Revis era has come to an end with the New York Jets. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers acquired Revis from the Jets for a first-round pick (No. 13 overall) and a conditional third- or fourth-round pick in 2014.
With that in mind, here is our latest poll question: How will you remember the Revis era in New York? The Jets drafted Revis in the first round in 2007 and it’s been filled with ups and downs.
Will you most remember "Revis Island" on the field? No cornerback dominated the NFL for the past six years more than Revis. He allowed the Jets to shut down half the field and proved to be the best cover corner since Hall of Famer Deion Sanders.
What about the back-to-back AFC title games? Revis was the biggest cog in leading the Jets one step within the Super Bowl following the 2009 and 2010 seasons. Offenses did not have an answer that year for Revis, who was a first-team All-Pro both years. Both seasons included big wins in the regular season or playoffs against the rival New England Patriots.
But there also were bad times with Revis. For example, will you most remember Revis’ three contract disputes? Revis and the Jets had a contentious business relationship over the years and it started with his rookie contract. Revis also held out in 2010 for a bigger contract and threatened to do the same in 2012. At that point it became tiresome and the Jets refused to give in. Last year’s dispute was the beginning of the end for Revis and the Jets.
