The New England Patriots were predictable with the No. 29 overall pick. As expected, the Patriots traded out of the first round with the Minnesota Vikings to acquire four additional picks.

Minnesota drafted former Tennessee receiver Cordarrelle Patterson with the No. 29 pick. In return, New England got Minnesota’s second-, third-, fourth- and seventh-round picks. This essentially makes up for the three picks New England lost in prior trades for Aqib Talib, Chad Johnson and Albert Haynesworth.

New England is the only AFC team which didn’t make a pick in the first round. The Patriots have a couple holes, but nothing huge. New England will build depth on its roster starting in the second round.
