The New England Patriots were the most patient team in this draft. They finally made their first two selections and added help at outside linebacker and wide receiver.
New England selected Southern Miss linebacker Jamie Collins and Marshall receiver Aaron Dobson with its two second round picks. Collins recorded 10 sacks last year and has potential to add to the New England pass rush. Dobson was a playmaker in college with great ball skills.
Both players will get a chance to make an impact for the Patriots right away. Collins could be a situational rusher for New England’s defense, while Dobson could compete for a starting job at receiver. The Patriots need a replacement for Brandon Lloyd. Dobson adds to a competitive group that includes fellow receivers Michael Jenkins and Donald Jones.
