By the sounds of it, Braylon Edwards is auditioning for the New York Jets.

The big receiver, acquired in a trade with the Cleveland Browns, is enjoying his time with the Jets and would like to come back when the five-year contract he signed as a rookie expires after this season.

Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum stated when the Jets acquired him in October that they had no immediate plans to negotiate a new deal during the season, suggesting Edwards could hit the open market.

Edwards on Monday said he's trying his best to impress the Jets so they'll bring him back.

"I really like this situation," Edwards said. "I like the organization from top to bottom. I like the players. I jell well with these guys. I like the city [and] everything about this situation.

"I'd like to be here, a Jet after this year. So for me, I'm going into it giving it all that I have, show that I deserve to be here and that I'm the type of player that they can count on, that they can depend on.

"Going in, week in and week out, Monday through Sunday, I am trying to do everything I can the right way to prove to these guys who I am and I'm the guy that they need."

In four games with the Browns, Edwards had 10 receptions for 139 yards and no touchdowns.

Through four games for the Jets, he made 13 catches for 192 yards and two touchdowns.
