Morning take: Randy Starks' contract

6/2/2013

Here are the most interesting stories Monday in the AFC East:

  • Is Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Randy Starks handling his contract situation the right way?

Morning take: Starks received the franchise tag and is skipping voluntary workouts. But Starks plans to show up for mandatory minicamp. I do not think his absence impacted the Dolphins either way.

Morning take: There's a good chance New England will only carry two -- Tom Brady and Ryan Mallett -- in order to use a roster spot on another position. Mike Kafka must really impress in training camp to make the 53-man roster this summer.

Morning take: It makes sense. New head coach Doug Marrone moved Dickerson to wide receiver this offseason. But Dickerson has a much better chance of making the roster at tight end. Buffalo starter Scott Chandler is working his way back from a knee injury and reps are available.

Morning take: There are several teams in a worse predicament. The Jets at least have the highest-rated quarterback (Geno Smith) by most teams in this year’s draft, which offers hope for the future.
