Randy Moss talks NASCAR
For the record, Randy Moss' favorite NASCAR driver is ...
The New England Patriots receiver revealed that nugget today during an interview on ESPN Radio , where he was promoting the newly-formed Randy Moss Motorsports. The company has purchased a 50 percent stake in a Craftsman Truck Series team and will race July 19 at Kentucky Speedway. (Willie Allen will drive the No. 81 Chevrolet.)
Moss said his interest in the project stemmed from his upbringing in Rand, W.Va.
"Just being from the country, being from West Virginia and my roots," Moss said in the interview. "NASCAR is very big in the state of West Virginia. Throughout the years, I've been hit with a lot of NASCAR -- television, memorabilia, whatever it may be."
That interest level, however, won't prompt Moss to quit his day job just yet.
"I don't want this NASCAR thing to get in the way -- by any means -- of my main goal and my main objective," he said, "and that is to go out and play football each week. Once the season is over, my offseason, I think people will probably start seeing a little bit more of me [at the racetrack.]"
The Patriots will report to training camp July 23, and Moss said he expects practices to be "hard and hot."
"I think what makes coach [Bill] Belichick the coach that he that he is," Moss said, "is that you can have a team accomplish what we did last year and really let up on your guys the following year. And he is being the same coach Bill Belichick that he was from mini-camps of last year. He doesn't change his approach."
