While on a conference call to preview Sunday night's game between the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts in Lucas Oil Stadium, I had the opportunity to ask NBC analyst Tony Dungy to elaborate on his comments that Michael Vick possibly could play for the Buffalo Bills next year.

Dungy, an adviser to Vick, revealed during last Sunday night's pregame show the Bills had spoken to the three-time Pro Bowl quarterback about signing him before he joined the Philadelphia Eagles. Dungy also said Buffalo "could be a good spot" for Vick in 2010.

"That was just my personal opinion," Dungy said. "I didn't have anything to base that on, no conversations with anyone else."

Dungy, who coached the Indianapolis Colts to a championship, thinks the Bills are loaded with players such as running backs Marshawn Lynch and Fred Jackson and receivers Lee Evans and Terrell Owens.

Without mentioning Trent Edwards by name, Dungy asserted quarterback play has held back the Bills.

"I think there are a number of teams that are going to be looking for quarterbacks at the end of the year, looking at their quarterback situations," Dungy said. "I think Buffalo is one of those, where it's a very good team with a lot of skill position guys. I think any quarterback would want to play with Lee Evans, T.O. and [Marshawn] Lynch and some of the guys that they have there.

"They haven't gotten consistent quarterback play in the last three or four years. That's probably been their Achilles' heel. I think it could be an intriguing situation."
