Jets inactives: Coples in, Sapp out

September, 22, 2013
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- As expected, linebacker Quinton Coples is active and will make his 2013 debut Sunday against the Buffalo Bills at MetLife Stadium.

Coples, four weeks removed from surgery to repair a fractured ankle, returned to the Jets after missing the first two games. To make room for him on the 46-man roster, linebacker Ricky Sapp was declared inactive.

Another notable deactivation is rookie wide receiver Ryan Spadola. With the return of Jeremy Kerley, who missed one game with a concussion, Spadola was deemed unnecessary. The Jets dressed five receivers, with Ben Obomanu as the fifth.

The Jets' other inactive players are QB Brady Quinn, G Will Campbell, OT Ben Ijalana, OT Oday Aboushi and LB Scott Solomon.

For the Bills, the news is that S Jairus Byrd (foot) is inactive. It's not a surprise, considering he hasn't played and was listed as questionable. The Bills will be down their top two starters in the secondary, as CB Stephon Gilmore (broken wrist) also is inactive.

The Bills' other inactives are K Dustin Hopkins, CB Ron Brooks, G Doug Legursky, WR Marquise Goodwin and TE Chris Gragg.
