DAVIE, Fla. -- The Miami Dolphins are expected to face the NFL's third-best rushing attack without their starting middle linebacker Sunday.
Dannell Ellerbe was listed Friday as doubtful with a shoulder injury on Miami’s final injury report. The Dolphins (3-2) will host the Buffalo Bills (2-4) Sunday in an important AFC East game for both teams.
Ellerbe injured his shoulder two weeks ago against his former team, the Baltimore Ravens. Ellerbe couldn’t finish the game, but he was optimistic that he could make it back in time after the bye. Ellerbe told reporters on Monday and Wednesday that he plans to play.
However, Ellerbe sat out of practice the entire week and spent time working with trainers. He leads the Dolphins in tackles with 40.
Dolphins backup linebacker Jason Trusnik is expected to get the start for Miami in place of Ellerbe.
