ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Buffalo Bills defensive Marcell Dareus sat out the first quarter of Sunday's 19-0 win over the Miami Dolphins for what coach Doug Marrone called a team rules violation.

"That's behind us," Marrone said after the game. "We move forward from it and that's really all I'm going to comment on."

Dareus, who did not start Sunday for the second time in his career, declined to disclose what led to his benching.

"It was just something that we got going on. I respect it, he respect it. I have nothing against him," Dareus said. "We respect each other. Me and Marrone, we're not at any differences. I don't have anything against the team. Just ... things happen. You deal with it. Move forward."

The former first-round pick has set a career-high this season with 7.5 sacks. He remained on the sideline when the Bills set a franchise single-season sack record in the first quarter.

"It was probably one of the hardest quarters [since] I've ever played," he said. "But at the same time, we did good. And I wasn't worried. I just wanted us to do good the whole game. [We] pulled it out and I'm happy the outcome was what we wanted."

Dareus was limited in practice on Wednesday with an ankle injury that he suffered in last Sunday's win in Jacksonville. He was listed as a full participant in practice on Thursday and Friday.

The 6-foot-3, 331-pound Dareus, who the Bills selected third overall in 2011, finished Sunday's game with three tackles and a quarterback hit.

"It's not really nothing important. It's just a quarter," he said. "You suffer your consequences, roll on with them, do the best you can."
