Two days before Christmas is not the best time for a playoff-bound offense to be still in search of an identity.

Tom Brady, however, admitted that's the case for the New England Patriots.

"I think that's probably something we're still working at," Brady said Wednesday, as posted on Mike Reiss' blog at ESPNBoston.com. "We're still trying to find the right combination of things. We're a pretty balanced team, I think. We try to run it. We try to throw it. Last week, we ran it more than we threw it. Other weeks, we've thrown it."

The Patriots have two games remaining and can clinch the AFC East with a victory Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Gillette Stadium.

Brady mentioned the various injuries that have inhibited chemistry. Running backs Sammy Morris and Fred Taylor have missed significant time with injuries. So has rookie receiver Julian Edelman and, for a couple of games, Wes Welker.

"We're trying to find the right mix and the right plays for the groups that are on the field so we can execute the best," Brady said. "Sometimes it looks good. Other times, it doesn't look so good. We're still working at it."
