When informed of this, Bills interim coach and defensive coordinator Perry Fewell cracked, "He can't."
Schobel is a two-time Pro Bowler with 75 career sacks, second in team history to Hall of Fame defensive end Bruce Smith. He will turn 33 by next season.
"I'm going to go home and think about it and see if this is what I want to do," Schobel told Allen Wilson of the Buffalo News and John Wawrow of Associated Press.
Schobel leads the Bills with seven sacks and 14 tackles for losses.
Schobel signed a four-year contract extension in 2007 that made him the highest-paid athlete in Buffalo professional sports history.
