ESPN analyst and former defensive end Marcellus Wiley appeared on Sunday morning's edition of "Outside the Lines" to discuss why pro athletes feel the need for weapons and admitted he carried an unregistered, concealed, loaded handgun during his first two years with the Buffalo Bills.

Wiley grew up in hardscrabble Compton, Calif., and said he felt the need to protect himself and his money after the Bills drafted him in the second round in 1997.

He revealed he carried a .380 pistol in a small holster that appeared to be a wallet, keeping it with him everywhere he went except when he traveled with the Bills. But he said he grew tired of the stress it caused and threw it from his car window while driving down the highway after a Bills practice.

Wiley's .380 might still be waiting to be found somewhere off the New York State Thruway.
