AFC East won't be decided until nightfall

Posted by ESPN.com's Tim Graham

The NFL has moved Sunday's epic showdown between the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets at the Meadowlands to a 4:15 p.m. ET kickoff to maximize the audience for a game with more story lines than "Days of Our Lives."

Like sands through the hourglass.

New England Patriots fans also might have to wait to learn their team's wild-card future because whether or not they get in probably will depend on what the Baltimore Ravens do against the Jacksonville Jaguars. That game also has been moved to 4:15 p.m. ET.

The Patriots still can win the division if they defeat the Buffalo Bills and the Jets beat the Dolphins. Even if the Dolphins win, the Patriots can earn the last wild-card berth if they get past the Bills and the Jaguars upset the Ravens.

The NFL selected the all-or-nothing AFC West game between the Denver Broncos and San Diego Chargers for the Sunday night primetime game.

But Dolphins-Jets pairing gets the next best treatment. The decision also separates the New York teams because the Giants are scheduled to play the Minnesota Vikings at 1 p.m. ET.
