Podcast: Sanchez 'going to be a lot better'

New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez is one of the most pivotal characters of the upcoming NFL season.

If he does well, then the Jets will win a lot of game.

If he does poorly, then the Jets will suffer.

Sanchez was a guest Friday on "The Herd with Colin Cowherd" and spoke about how much he has evolved since his rookie season, the bull's-eye the Jets are wearing and the effect of cornerback Darrelle Revis' absence among other topics.

"I just feel so much more comfortable in this system," Sanchez said. "I know what [offensive coordinator Brian] Schottenheimer's trying to do on each play. I get the purpose of each play. I'm handling situations a lot better. Huddle calls, I feel that much more comfortable, a year better.

"I still made some costly mistakes in the preseason, and that's what preseason's for, to hopefully to get those out of the way. But I think people are expecting -- I don't know -- you only play, like, a quarter or so in the preseason and they want, like, five touchdowns passes or something. That's just kind of the way it goes, playing here.

"But it's going to be a lot better here. Leadership-wise I'm 100 times better just because of the experience last year."
